After the establishment of National Working Group for PAL under the
leadership of NTC, the following activities completed to implement PAL
piloting in two districts of Nepal from August to December 2007.

Finalization of PAL Guidelines and training materials

TOT on PAL

Training health workers (OPD of NTC, Bhaktapur
and Nawalparasi Hospitals and all Primary Health Centers of two districts)

Training for HP staffs

Implementation of PAL

National Working Group –established
in the 1st week of August 2007 with NTP as key coordinating body.

Sensitization meeting- The sensitization
meeting was aimed to disseminate information about PAL piloting in
Nepal, to inform about work plan of PAL pilot and to earn support
from policy makers.

Finalization of PAL Guidelines and training
materials- several meetings of the PAL guide committee held
between 18-31 Aug and revised PAL training materials adapted to conduct
training of health workers.

TOT on PAL- held on 20-22 Sept
2007 and 17 participants were trained.

Training for district health workers-
The health workers of OPD of NTC, Bhaktapur and Nawalparasi hospitals
and all the PHCs of these two districts completed in two phases- 23-27
Sept (21 participants) and 11-15 Oct 2007(34 participants).

Printing of training materials-
completed in the end Oct 2007.

Training for HP staffs- The training
of health workers of Bhaktapur districts HP completed in November
and December 2007and a total of 39 participants were trained. The
training for Nawalparasi health post's workers held between 28 Nov-2
Dec 2007 and a total of 16 participants trained.
