GoalTo reduce the mortality, morbidity and transmission of tuberculosis till it is no longer at public health problem in Nepal.
Objectives:
- To achieve 85% treatment
success rate in new smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases and to
achieve 70% case decection ratio ib new smear positive pulmonary
tuberculosis cases.
- Achieve universal access to high-quality diagnosis and patient-centered treatment
- Reduce the human suffering and socioeconomic burden associated with TB
- Protect poor and vulnerable populations from TB, TB/HIV and multidrug-resistant TB
- Support development of new tools and enable their timely and effective use
TB Burden in Nepal
- 45% of total population are infected with TB
- 40,000 people get TB every year
- 20,000 new sputum positive cases every year
- 5000-7000 people die each year from TB.
